it's summertime...and the livin' is easy

Currently listening to "Closer", by
Travis.
Ok, so this morning I had the brilliant idea to finally wash the curtains in my bedroom. They desperately needed it and I thought, "Hey, great time to do it. I'll throw 'em in the washer and throw 'em back up again."
Well, two hours later, I finally had them up again. And I crashed on my bed and looked up at them and said out loud, "Ah. Clean curtains." in an effort to make myself feel better that I spent two hours on window dressings for ONE window. Ugh. Yes Rebs, welcome to "homemaking". The factor that I didn't think about was ironing. And I hate ironing. Especially curtains that can't be ironed with a HOT iron, it has to be just WARM...cos then it take twice as long...and the curtains are huge, and there's seven of them......ok, I'm over it. I'll post a picture tomorrow of the finished product, as I forgot to do that today.
So much for getting anything accomplished for support this morning.
BUT I had a glorious evening on the deck with my mom and a glass of white wine. Mmm. Ok, three glasses of white wine. Haha. It's summertime. It hit 90 degrees today. Yessss.
P.S. I've also been listening to The Bad Plus lately and their song "1980 World Champion". LOVE it. Check 'em out
here. Unfortunately they don't have "1980" up, but their other songs are equally brilliant.
happy mother's day & birthday, mom!
Listening to
Without Gravity's album "Tenderfoot".
Yep. Every few years my mom has to share Mother's Day & her birthday. It's almost as bad as sharing Christmas & your birthday. We went to Prince St. Cafe in Lancaster for some dessert drinks and to walk around town a bit. It was a beautiful evening.

Here's the mom and birthday girl. Isn't she beautiful?? I love her so much.

And me and the Dad Man (as I affectionately call him). Can you see where I get my good looks now? haha

And of course, I couldn't pass up a shot of the Union Jack in a store window downtown. I also just "had" to get my reflection in the window...just so you know I really took the picture...??? Anyway...
I'm so thankful for my mom! She is truly a precious gift. AND she's a breast cancer survivor! It's been four years...thank you Jesus for sparing her life. Today she celebrated her 58th. We look forward to MANY more years together as a family! :)
grandparents, childhood memories, and tomato pie
Tomorrow is Mother's Day. My entire family is from the Norristown, Pennsylvania area, just outside of Philadelphia. So, today we visited with my dad's parents to celebrate mommom. My mom's parents, Aaron & Beatrice - aka "Poppop Aaron & Mommom Bea" went to be with Jesus December 2005 and May 2005 respectively. We miss them.
But today was a sweet day. And my Poppop Bob is also a WWII Navy Vet (Poppop Aaron was too). He was on the USS Iowa BB (Big Battleship) 61, stationed in the Pacific. I LOVE his stories. He was definitely a crazy, stereotypical sailor!! And freakin' good looking too! ;) Thankfully I was able to get a couple of stories on video today. I will post them when I can figure it out. :)

My Mommom "Rachie". Her name is Alma Rae.

Dad & his dad, Poppop Bob, going over "things".

This is part of my walk down "memory lane" at their house. This is Poppop's work area. I just had to take some pictures of it to keep a visual memory. As a child I remember checking everything out...and running around like a mad woman in their basement :)

They've had a fridge in the basement since I was born...actually it's probably been since the 1950s :) It's always been stocked with beer and soda. Back in the day it was cans of Budweiser, or the like. They've since graduated to bottles of Yuengling.

We sat outside on their back deck for a while. I liked the look of the old white t-shirts on the line...

...and we admired the Azalea bush...

And we watched the little birds (I can't remember what they're called) go in and out of this birdhouse.

And then we ate some tomato pie with red sauce from Corropolese's Deli in Norristown. So dang good. It's basically cold pizza - but so much better. Love it.
go ahead, ask me...

Ok. First I'm just going to completely ignore the fact that I haven't even so much as touched Blogland for almost two months now. Otherwise I will wallow in guilt. Haha.
It's been an interesting two months...or four years. However you want to cut it. But I can, with utmost conviction and certainty say that God has been good, is good, and will continue to be. He's faithful, to be sure.
The other day I received the below surprise in the mail as an encouragement from some dear friends. They wanted to be sure I knew they are 100% behind me (and the team). I personally think it's one of the coolest gifts and t-shirts ever. But that's just me. I want to sleep in it. I'm going to wear it whenever I'm making phone calls :) I think I'll wear it to the gym too. I'm going to wear it to the craft store, the grocery store, the pub, the cleaners, a
Farewell Flight show, etc. I like it.
And I miss you all in Blogland!
